OBGYN Residency Program FAQ
We are thrilled to announce that all OB-GYN residency programs will receive grant-sponsored access to Thalamus Prime for the 2021-2022 recruitment season!
For the second straight year, a generous grant has been provided by the American Medical Association (AMA) as part of the APGO Right Resident, Right Program, Ready Day One Program to sponsor this initiative.
122 OB-GYN residency programs sent out of over 11,000 interview invitations through Thalamus during the 2020-2021 recruitment season to ~2000 applicants. Given the success of the project, we are excited to have the grant extended and welcome all remaining OB-GYN programs to join us, and take advantage of the numerous features and products Thalamus offers.

Get access to your free Thalamus account by submitting your program information. Once your program has been successfully onboarded, you will receive an email that includes additional account information. Programs will be onboarded within one week of form submission

What is included in Thalamus Prime?
Programs can pick and choose which features they would like to utilize on Thalamus. Want to interview via Zoom, Teams or Webex? No problem, Thalamus also integrates directly with these 3rd-party video conferencing solutions.
Thalamus’ core scheduling software provides comprehensive interview management via a real-time scheduling system – online and mobile. Programs can easily manage their entire interview season in one complete solution. Applicants may instantaneously confirm interview dates and take full control of their schedules.
Thalamus’ Itinerary Wizard provides near instantaneous creation of faculty and candidate interview schedules, including virtual interview links. Incorporate faculty availability, applicant and program preferences, while building 1 on 1, panel or group meetings for streamlined interview day schedule creation in minutes.
Thalamus’ custom virtual interview platform was designed to provide full support of the GME interview process. It integrates directly with your program’s interview calendar, scoring and notes. Built specifically for GME administrator workflow, group meeting and breakout rooms are created automatically and link directly to applicant and faculty schedules. Everything is tracked on interview day through the Thalamus Master View, to provide the most streamlined virtual interview day experience.
Cortex is application screening reimagined with AI assistance. Upload application PDFs in bulk. Cortex uses natural language processing (NLP) and optical character recognition (OCR) to pull out aggregate grades, keywords and other important data in a snapshot view to promote DEI recruitment and holistic review. Score applicants, write notes, blind information to eliminate bias, and use algorithms to identify optimal applicants. All data transfers directly to Thalamus to complete an efficient process that saves faculty time and money, while promoting a fair, equitable, and inclusive review.
New Add-on Features
Institutional Data Dashboard
We are building out a new dashboard feature available to both individual programs and institutions. The dashboard will assist in capturing recruitment and applicant statistics, and benchmark vs. other programs nationally, while also providing enhanced data and analytics to include in program annual reporting. Example of data provided will include:
- Demographics of applicants, including those who interviewed and matched
- Distribution of US Graduate vs. International Medical Graduate
- Allopathic vs. Osteopathic
- Gender, Sefl-Identity, Race, & Ethnicity Statistics
- A Heat Map Chart visually displaying applicant locations
