Our mission

The mission of our organization

Ensuring the right doctors are in the right hospitals to treat the right patients.

Our Mission

ThalOS:  Thalamus Operating System

At Thalamus, our mission is to ensure the right doctor ends up at the right hospital to treat the right patients. This is deeply rooted in our identity as a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC).  ThalOS, our company operating system, defines our Mission, Vision, North Star, Leadership Code, Values, and Operating Principles. Team Thalamus then brings this all to life by fostering a dynamic ecosystem where exceptional talent converges to drive transformative change.

This Talent Synapse—a metaphor for the powerful network that enhances our collective impact through high-quality Human Density, provides the platform to Connect the Docs.

Thalamus was founded by physicians who lived the experience — which means we're uniquely positioned to make a huge impact in the physician space.

Prefrontal Cortex (PFC)

Our Leadership Code

Named after the part of the brain responsible for executive function and exercising judgment, Frontal Cortex defines how we expect Thalamus leaders to plan and execute work.

Accelerate the Mission

  • Leaders at Thalamus build and lead the execution of strategies that bring us closer to realizing our vision
  • We create the clarity to cut through noise and focus our teams on what moves us forward
  • Have the courage to guide your team away from behaviors that don’t move us forward
Rocket

Duty of Care

  • Leaders at Thalamus have the tremendous duty of care to the mission, the employees of the company, our customers, and the doctors we serve
  • We lead with empathy, foster trust, and create an environment where people can succeed
  • We are acutely aware of our scope of practice and enlist support from others when needed
Duty of care

Prevention over Cure

  • Leaders at Thalamus have the responsibility to “see around corners” to anticipate potential issues before they arise.
  • Take responsibility for the strategy and empower your team to run with the tactics
  • Build a strong and functional team so you can see the forest from the trees.
  • Champion the movement from reactive to proactive to anticipatory work.
Prevention Over

Insula

Our Values

Named after the part of the brain responsible for sensory perception and awareness, Insula defines how we approach the work and each other. In most organizations, these would be called values.

Bravery with a Purpose

  • Share unpopular points of view, especially those backed by data that advance the mission
  • Don’t be afraid to roll up your sleeves and support others
  • Know when you’ve stepped outside your expertise and ask for help when you need it
Bravery Purpose

Imagination Optimized

  • Bring a willingness to experiment, but with discipline
  • Fail fast and have unexpected results, but learn from them and avoid repeating them
  • Avoid unproductive and slow failures
Imagination Optimized

Genuine Collaboration

  • Feedback should be psychologically safe, candid, and constructive
  • Collaboration is a two way process - we are willing to give and receive ideas & feedback
  • Consensus is not collaboration - there needs to be a decision maker
  • Bring empathy, inclusivity, and compassion to the conversation
Genuine Collaboration

Hypothalamus

Our Operating Principles

Named after the part of the brain responsible for maintaining biorhythms, Hypothalamus defines the operating principles we use to keep the company in equilibrium or homeostasis.

Raving Fans, Inside & Out

  • We create experiences for our colleagues and our customers that exceed expectations
  • Take the time to invest in an elevated experience for those with whom you collaborate
  • Balance creating delight with responsible allocation of company resources
Raving Fans

There is No “They”

  • We succeed (or fail) as a team
  • Respectfully debate the merits of decisions but once the decision is made, commit
  • Don’t assume someone else will notice or pick up the slack
  • As a startup, no task is too big or too small - nothing is not our job
People

Right Time, Right Decision

  • Make decisions when the business needs them, not too early or too late
  • Navigate imperfect information to make thoughtful decisions when needed
  • Consider all possible inputs but take ownership of the decision if it’s yours to make
  • Stay focused on the topic and decision at hand - keep the goal the goal
Medal
